So we’ve been having a bit of a debate in the office because we wanted to do the headline “Local man gives up sugar for 12 minutes” but then overdoing the “local man” trope is a bit male-centric, so we considered “Local woman” but then that sounds like we’re typecasting women so that wasn’t great either, but I think we’ve finally found a worthy compromise:

I was reading something about Whitestown, Indiana and my eyes nearly popped out of my head thinking it was one of THOSE comically racist towns. Nice to know, at least the name, wasn’t that.

Racisttown, named after the abolitionist Stopbeing Racist,

That’s nothing. Check THIS shit out

George Washington Hitler and his son Dr. Gay Hitler,

The Barbie movie reminded me about how when I was little my parents were upset that I kept making my Barbie dolls kiss, so they bought me a Ken doll. The next day they found me having a funeral for poor Ken in the garden, he had died of tuberculosis. All the Barbies were in attendance and I buried him under our rose bush. The Barbies were too poor to afford a headstone (it was 1875) so I didn’t mark where the grave was and I never could find him again. He’s probably still there.

I really hope people online aren’t getting the wrong impression of unions and that they’re flawless Things that will protect them from any and all mistreatment and that strikes are fun little treats union workers get

Unions are People not Things. Union leaders can fuck up. Unions can definitely operate in a way that gets you low wages and poor benefits if you’re not being represented well.

A union by itself does not guarantee you anything. Unions take work and money to run. You pay dues, you go to meetings, you vote. You protect each other in a union. You don’t join a union and magically have everything taken care of for you.

Strikes are a powerful tool but are scary. They’re not a goal to achieve. Unions don’t aim to go on strike during negotiations.

Laudna lashing out at the group in e65 still haunts me deeply.

She was so upset and lonely, rightfully so. She repeatedly bottled up her emotions to the point she lost her connection to reality for a moment. Accusing Imogen of replacing her with a new best friend was the cherry on top. Whether she truly believed in that or not, Ashton was completely right in suggesting she needs to get reminded again of the things that make her happy and reconnect with the person who grounds her the most.

And the way Imogen stared at her with the softest heart eyes, probably wishing she could just hold Laudna as close as humanly possible and kiss away all the pain and every last bit of doubt.
